コンセプトの中心に脈々と流れる「美」/ The beauty of the concept
先日、隅田川の畔りにある直営工場PARADIDDLE LABの歓送迎会だった。
ミシンを踏むスタッフが独立することになったんでその送別会と、新らたに入ってきてた2人のスタッフの歓迎会を兼ねての会社の飲み会。
去りゆく人も、新しく加わった2人も、そして会社の真っ只中で活躍するスタッフたちもみんな本当にいい顔してお酒を飲んでた。少し前の先月末の隅田川花火大会も僕は参加できなかったんだど、スタッフたちでLABのミーテキングルームでそうめんを啜りながらの花火観覧をしたみたい。
歓送迎会、花火観覧ともにお盆前の真夏の楽しいひとときだった。
夏って本当に大好きだなぁ。小さいころは冬の方好きだったんだけど、大人になってからは活動的な夏の方が好き。今年はGWから30℃を超える日が多くて本当に嬉しかった。このままずっと夏が続いて欲しいって毎年のように感じる。残暑が厳しいなんて嬉しい限りで、逆に秋の到来とか冬将軍がやってきたみたいなニュースは大嫌いだ。
でも、ファッションの世界ではすでにAUTUMN & WINTERにシーズンイン。KATSUYUKIKODAMAも8/10から秋冬の商品が続々と店頭へ投入され展開がスタートした。
メインは前回のブログでも紹介したPACK5とPACK6。リリース初日から東京・大阪で好調なセールスで、一足先に秋を感じている。
新らたにPACKシリーズの第Ⅱ世代に加わったこのPACK5とPACK6は、僕と佐古でパターンを何十回もやり直して仕上がったまさに快心の一作。立体が最終型になるまで半年以上かかった。
いつでもなんでもそうだけど型紙が2ミリ違えば立体も表情も変わるんで、納得いくまでなんども型紙を切り直した。この秋の新作のもう一つの柱のサコッシュも同じく、自分自身が唸るようになるまで立体の出かたを追求した。
とにかく新作のどの型も、シーズンコンセプトの中心に脈々と流れる「美」(and the BEAUTY)を意識しつづけた結果が立体となり商品となってリリースされている。

Recently we had a farewell and welcome party of our PARADIDDLE LAB located by Sumida River.
It was for a staff, who was leaving and had worked running a sewing machine, and two new members.
The person who was leaving, these newcomers, and the current staffs were drinking in a good mood. I couldn’t join the fireworks festival last month either, but I heard they were enjoying the fireworks in the meeting room at LAB eating Somen noodles.
This farewell and welcome party and fireworks are definitely fun memories before Bon holidays.
I love summer so much. I used to like winter better in my childhood, but after I grew up I like summer because of its activeness. This year, after holidays in the beginning of May passed, the days were often over 30 degrees Celsius, so I was very happy with it. Every year I wish this season would continue. Even the late summer’s severe heat makes me happy and I hate any news that says, “winter has come”.
However, AUTUMN & WINTER has begun in fashion industry. KATSUYUKIKODAMA has started to display new items of the next season in stores from August 10th.
The main items are PACK5 and PACK6 that I have already introduced in the previous blog. Since the release day, sell out is going great in Tokyo and Osaka. I’m feeling the fall season one step ahead.
These PACK5 and PACK6, joined the second generation of PACK series, are the special work that Sako and I had made so much effort to make it better. It took more than half a year to brush up to the final looks.
As usual, if the pattern even has a difference of 2mm, the looks will change a lot. We recut the pattern over and over until we are convinced. Musette bag, a new collection of autumn, is the same. We pursued the final figure that would make ourselves agree with it.
Anyway every style of the new collection has been released with the season concept, “Beauty” that flows in it, which we have been conscious of.
